NEPAL - EVEREST TREK KALA PATTAR Dear people of Himalayan Rock, I would like to thank you for the great trekking to Kala Pattar, Everest region. From the first moment I entered your office till coming from my trekking I felt very comfortable. The trekking was very well organized. Before my trekking people told me not to go trekking in December but you people convinced me to go and the weather was really PERFECT and some days I just walked in t-shirts and short trousers ! (this is something else than stories about frozen hands and feet..) High altitude sickness is always a great risk during trekkings in the Everest region but our guide Hari Gurung took very good care of us. We just ascended very slow, we drinked lots of water and rested from time to time. I had no problems at all with the altitude thanks to Hari. The whole trekking was an experience I will never forget, it was a great, great trip. Jan Jansen Holland Jan Janssen Email: jp_janssen@hotmail.com Biddinghuizen, Netherlands

We already planned our trekking in spring time of 2008 and during the year we sometimes changed our travelschedule. And this is a great advantage when you like to book with Himalayan Rock, all changes were no problem at all ! Thanks again for the good experience and planning our holiday according to OUR wishes. "OUR" is 2 married couples from Holland in this case. We made a great trek from Jomsom to Muktinath and back from Muktinath to Kagbeni, Marpha, Tatopani, Ghorepani (Poon Hill) and finally to Annapurna Base Camp, a magical place in the Himalayas. Our guide Hari Gurung, our porters and Eric from Himalayan Rock certainly helped to make this trekking an unforgettable experience. Also thanks to Rammani, the manager of the Kathmandu office of Himalayan Rock. He easily changed flights, departure times and other things for us. DOLPO TREK - NEPAL Hi Rammani, Eric and Kumar, In October 2008 we have made our 2nd trek in Nepal with Himalayan Rock. This time we decided to do the Jumla to Dolpo tenttrek with our group of 7 people. It was really GREAT. Especially due to our outstanding and experienced guide Kumar and ofcourse second guide Hari Gurung and Eric. We had very nice and clear weather during this remote area trek in October. There were some problems with our flight back from Juphal to Nepalgunj but due to great help from Rammani from the Kathmandu office of Himalayan Rock and our guides Kumar and Hari we were back in time in Kathmandu again for our flight home. Next year we are certainly coming back for another trek in Nepal! Kind regards, Jan and Jenny Jenny en Jan Jonink Email: jennyjonink@hotmail.com Rheden, Netherlands

Traveling with kids in Nepal We traveled in the summer of 2009 with two kids of 8 and 11 years old for six weeks in Nepal. Early 2009 we contacted Himalayan Rock and together with Eric and Bas set out our program. We hiked ourselves 15 yrs ago selfsupporting around the Annupurna Circuit, but this time we decided to go to the restricted valleys of Nar and Phu and hike to the Tilicho Lake. This summer our family had a wonderful 24 days hike and passed the 5000 meters three times. Our guides, Jit, Hira and Ganesh were very concerned with our childrens wellbeiing, although they seldom had problems and walked solid among the Himalayan mountains. The mountain views, the friendly villagers and hospitality of the monks made our journey to an unforgettable memory. The first week of our visit we used for acclimatization, not so much for the weather but for the culture. We visited the famous sites in Kathmandu after which we left Kathmandu for a home stay with Hira and his family, one of our guides. The children got used to the different way of life and to know our guides Hira and Ganesh. During our stay in Kathmandu we discussed the food details in the office of Himalayan rock, which was located close to our hotel. The people of Himalayan rock took very well care of our children, carrying them across mountain streams or guiding them on dangerous slopes. Our main guide Jit Gurung was always helpful and friendly. With him our children found some ammonites (fossils) near Kagbeni. After a nice farewell party we left in Jomson on an airplane to Pokhara, while the porters traveled by road to Kathmandu. The organization of our journey was excellent. Himalayan rock had booked the better hotels and arranged for nice rooms. In Pokhara even Hira showed up to guide us on a bike tour to a local waterfall. Next we started for a two day rafting experience on the Seti. Luckily the river was swollen due to the rainfall. Our children loved the big waves. When we landed our taxi was waiting to pick us up. We ended our itinerary in Nepal in Chitwan. We had a wonderful three day jungle program, which the children experienced as the topping on the cake. The elephant shower and the elephant safari they found marvelous. We saw a rhino and her baby and spotted crocodiles along the riverbanks. We returned to Kathmandu by taxi and after the souvenir shopping, Rammani the owner of Himalayan Rock invited us the last evening at a traditional Nepali restaurant with sing and dance. The children loved it. It was a perfect holiday, for which we want to thank Rammani, Jit, Hira and Ganesh (and all the others who were helpful). ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT AND ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP - NEPAL Namaste, In spring 2008 we did the combined Annapurna Circuit trek and Annapurna Base Camp trek with Himalayan Rock. March is a perfect season for trekking, it is not too hot and in the Poon Hill region all rhododendron flowers were in full bloom. 26 days of walking was hard sometimes so we advise people who like to do the same trek to do some training in advance. But we would immediately do it again when we got the chance. Next to the perfect organization of our trek and a great guide (Hari Gurung) we could always visit the Himalayan office to ask some questions or just to drink some Nepali tea. Besides this they helped us finding a good accommodation in Kathmandu. MANASLU, RUPINA LA AND ANNAPURNA TREK - NEPAL Namaste! In September and October 2008 we did a combination of the Manaslu and the Annapurna trek with Himalayan Rock. It was fantastic. The first 3 weeks of our trek was a tenttrek and the last part we stayed in lodges. Especially the tenttrek was perfectly organized, we were supported by 8 porters and an experienced guide called Djeet. The trekking offered a number of various landscapes; ricefields, forests and ancient villages during the first part of the Manaslu trek. Later during the Manaslu trek and the Annapurna trek we enjoyed views on 8000 meter high mountains and we crossed 3 high mountains passes (Rupina La, Larkya La and Thorung La). Thank you Himalayan Rock for this very special experience. Regards, Maarten and Laura Maarten and Laura Houten, Netherlands

NEPAL - GANESH HIMAL TREK In spring 2009 we did the Ganesh Himal tentrek with Himalayan Rock. April 1 we arrived in Kathmandu where Rammani already waited for us at the airport. Rammani took us to the hotel. The rest of the day we did some shopping and eat something in one of the restaurants in Thamel. The next day Himalayan Rock arranged a comfortable bus for our trip to Dhading Besi. The bus was completely packed with luggage and our Nepali trekking staff. Because of our staff from Dhading the only thing we had to do was walk and enjoy, our staff took care of all other things. They did a great job and also the food was delicious (curry and pizza !). They helped us to build up the tents every day and all staff was very friendly and they did everything with a big smile. The Nepali staff had great fun during our trek. Ganesh Himal trek offers everything what makes Nepal such an amazing country; terraced rice fields, suspension bridges, nice villages, contact with the local people and magnificent mountain views. During the trek the local people welcomed us everywhere very friendly `NAMASTE !` Ganesh Himal is less visited by tourists and the local people are not used to Western visitors, we were surprised by this. Back in Kathmandu we spend the last days of our holiday visiting Bodnath, the Monkey Temple (Swayambunath) and Durbar Square. We still enjoy our trip in Nepal and we are already making plans to visit the most beautiful country in the world again !!
