Langtang, Gosainkund and Helambu Trek

This Langtang trek is the classic route in the Langtang region of Nepal. The Langtang Gosainkund and Helambu trek will take you to the Langtang Valley first to visit Kyanjin Gompa and Langtang viewpoint Tsergo Ri. After Langtang Valley you will visit the holy Gosainkund Lakes and cross Laurebina La. From the pass descend to the Helambu region from where you will drive back to Kathmandu by bus.

Day 01 Arrival Kathmandu(1320m): Meet our representative at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel. All the required documents ,photos, passport copis etc. are collected for the preparation of all legal documents required during the trek. On the same day you'll be meeting your guide for the trek.

Day 02 Kathmandu to Syabru Besi: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi it will take around 8 hours by the local bus. Overnight stay at the Hotel in Syabrubesi. On the way lies the Dhunche, the little cold town with mountains view including Ganesh Hima. You can enjoy the view of few peaks of Langtang range and the Tibetan peaks. Overnight stay at the Hotel in Syabrubesi.

Day 03 Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel: Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2380m.). The route is long in the jungle. Lunch at the Bamboo village with few lodges and teashops. The trail to Lamahotel follows the Langtang River and then up for the last couple of hours. It takes around 5-6 hours to reach Lama Hotel.

Day 04 Lama Hotel to Langtang Village: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang (3500m.) we find Ghodatabela on our way, Ghodatabela literally it means the Horse Stable. After Ghodatabela the trail is slightly gradual and beautiful in the valley with the grazing Yaks. Today we have to trek around 5 hours to reach Langtang.

Day 05 Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa: Trek from Langtang to Kyangjin Gomba (3800m.). This is a beautiful valley in the lap of the Langtang Lirung. The Cheese factory that is located in the Kyangin Gumba offers Yak Cheese. This is the place to explore the valley and lots of small peaks to climb, and today we have to walk 3 - 4 hours to reach Kyangjin Gompa.

Day 06 Climb the Chukung Ri (5033 m): 
Early in the morning hikking to chhukung Ri and enjoy with views of Mountain then back down Explore  the valley  

Day 07 Kyangjin Gompa to Lamahotel: 
Trek back to Lama Hotel: around 6 hours walking.

Day 08 Lamahotel to Thulo Sybru: The route is long in the jungle trek from Lamahotel all the way down hill to place call Pairo after that trek coniinue  Thulo Sybru (2100m.). Thulo Syabru is a nice Tamangs village, Tamangs are the major people of the Langtang area and supposed to be migrated from Tibet many years ago. It takes around 5-6 hours to reach Thulo Sybru.

Day 09 Thulo Sybru to Sing Gompa: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Chandanbari, it is all the way up hill with big forest. This small town is popular for the Cheese and they have one nice monastery in the village. Is a small village and you can enjoy the view of the mountains and you can appreciate the nature of the forest. It takes around 6-7 hours to reach the Sing Gompa

Day 10 Sing Gompa to Gosainkund: Trek to Gosainkund Lake (4380 m.) passing Lauribinayak. Gosainkunda area is popular for the Hindu pilgrimages. There are beautiful lakes around and local villagers associated them with the origin of the Universe according to the myth.

Day 11 Gosainkunda  to Gosainkund  pass to Ghopte : Trek to Ghopte It is quit long day to trek. You will pass the tragic Ghopte Bhir where the TG 319 in 1990 was crashed and 190 lives claimed. You will see the ruins of the plane still.

Day 12 Ghopte to Thadepati : As usually as we start our trek after the  breakfast from Ghopte to Thadepati it takes around 5 hours to reach there.The trail between Ghopte to Thadepati it is racky up and down several time,we will be walking in the forest with Pine, Incense and Rhododendron trees , when we arrive at Thadepati we can enjoy with views of mountain and nature.

Day13 Thadeoati to  Melamchi Gaon to Tarkeyghyan (2743m): Trek from Thadepati to Melamchi Gaon all the way down hill along with the forest trail. When we arrived Melamchi Gaon we will take our lunch in the village which is the place called Helambu, it is a big village of Sherpa communities. After lunch our trek continue downhill to the place call Nakote which is situated near the Melamchi River then our trek continue uphill to Tarkeyghyang which takes around 6 hours to reach Tarkeghyang, where Buddhist monastery is situated with big Sherpa community. You can have a culture exchange with villagers and enjoy the landscapes and lifestyle.

Day 14 Tarkeghyang to Timbu (1500m): It is about 4 hours walk from Tarkeghyang to Timbu and today is the last day of our trek. As such we start our trek after a good time having breakfast. Passing through the several villages in the way we reach Timbu which is situated by the side of the Melamchi River.

Day 15 Timbu to Kathmandu: Early in the morning after breakfast we catch the local bus to go to Kathmandu. It is about 5 hour drive to the city with scenic view of the small settlements and houses by the side of the roads.

Day 16 Kathmandu  Departure: After breakfast , a Himalayan Rock Treks and Expedition responsible person will drop you to the international airport.

Trekking Equipment Checklist

The weather can be cold, unpredictable and challenging while in the mountains. Hence the travelers need to be prepared to cope up with the weather. While you can take the different kind of equipment to make things comfortable for you, there are some basic things that you must carry with you for completion of the trek in comfortable manner.

Note: Sleeping bags come handy in case of difficult circumstances. We recommend every trekkers to take one with them while on the mountains. You can bring your own or it can be hired here.
