Bhaktapur has remained the most original of the three royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley. Here is the movie Little Buddha recorded. Bhaktapur is famous for its pottery square, where thousands of pots are allowed to dry. An attraction is also the Sun Dhoka, the golden gate. The Nyatapola Temple is Bhaktapur's largest temple. The 30 meter high pagoda roof is 5 storeys high above all other buildings in the city. Two to two images of watchmen flank the stairs to the temple.

The silversmiths and jewelers in the city are beautiful souvenirs for sale. Immediately outside of the city, Nepalese country life begins to have changed for centuries.
